Houkago no Pleiades Impressions

Yuri shippers on your marks... get set... go!

This was essentially a full season of a generic magical girl anime show compressed into 25 minutes (four mini episodes). In fact it is admirable that they hit all the bases for a generic magical girl anime in those 25 minutes. Here is my summary.

PSP additions to my game library

Disregarding MGS Peace Walker and Gran Turismo PSP, which I already had…

Valkyria Chronicles II! and Space Invaders EXTREME

I hope I have enough left to get Pokemon Black.

Summary review: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Platform: Nintendo DS
Single-player, puzzle solving, visual novel

Ghost Trick comes from creator of the widely beloved Ace Attorney series of games, Shu Takami. It’s very much in the vein of those games. However, rather than presenting evidence and identifying contradictions, the puzzle solving is much more grounded in the everyday task of identifying what inanimate objects can do. As for the story, you’ll fall in love with a dog with a heart of gold amongst the large cast of personalities in this game.

Kouji Kumeta’s “Katte ni Kaizou” to be adapted by SHAFT

YES! SHAFT are returning to a Kouji Kumeta work, after three and half brilliant seasons of Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei. Katte ni Kaizou was serialised before SZS, and influenced much of the art and style of SZS. As usual, Akiyuki Shinbo will be the director.

I really can’t wait. Luckily Puella Magi Madoka Magica is proving to be more than enough SHAFT for this season.

PlayStation Portable 2 revealed

Sony today revealed the PSP 2, as well as a PlayStation suite framework that allows games to be run on Sony gaming consoles as well as on Android phones.

Some images sourced from Engadget.com.

PSP 2

This is the PSP 2, which Sony codenamed the “Next Generation Portable” (NGP), and it will be available this holiday season. Yes, this year.

The main focus of the NGP seems to be social connectivity, which you’ll see in the hardware and software of the NGP.

Giga Pudding, Tomoko Kaneda and Jenga

Kore wa Zombie desu ka? keeps getting funnier and funnier. Episode 3 was an amazing bag of laughs. It started off great, with Giga Pudding taunting Haruna in her dreams.

In case you don’t know what this amazing dish is, here is the commercial that made this pudding famous on the interwebs.

Selections locked in

After much deliberation, I have finally chosen the bumper crop of anime that I will be watching this season. Here’s the list (with previous shows still in progress included):

  • Bakuman
  • Dragon Crisis!
  • Fractale
  • Gosick
  • Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember my Love(craft-sensei)
  • IS: Infinite Stratos
  • Kore wa Zombie desu ka?
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica
  • Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto
  • Yumekui Merry

Yes, that is indeed a massive list. Anyway, here are some thoughts on some of those shows (spoiler alert).

Summary review: Dead Space

So with Dead Space 2 just released, I figured that it was an appropriate time to review Dead Space 1 on the PC, which I recently completed. Apologies for the lack of 1080p screenshots, as I couldn’t be bothered to setup a screen capture program.

I am surprised at the versatility of mining equipment as weapons in the universe of Dead Space.

Welcome to the Circus of Nightmares… I mean Dreams

Note: This is an old post and won’t make much sense anymore. But it was the first post on this site so I’m keeping it here.

Finally, my own proper web host. Finally Zero Centre can flourish without the restrictions of some crappy free web host.

So as I’ve explained on N17, this is going to be my home away from home, with the original home being Number 17. Posts on this site will over time be collated and cross-posted to N17, however that will start at a later date to be determined.

I recommend you familiarise yourself with the site. I explain it in the “The Theme” page, but for extra emphasis I’ll repeat it here. There are three numbers hidden in the top right corner of the webpage (you don’t have to scroll to the top). Hover over the corner to see them. Clicking on number 1 will make the background of these posts opaque, which might help you read them. Clicking on number 2 will make rounded corners become proper right angle corners. Finally, clicking on number 3 will make everything disappear except the background, allowing you to see what the background is in all its glory. This is important as my theme lets me customise the background for the whole site and for each post.

Finally, my website is a horrible mess in Internet Explorer 8 and below. This is to express my disdain for the lack of standards implementation in that program. Either get the Google Chrome renderer for IE, or download the IE9 beta. (Side note: I probably lack rounded corners in Opera. Apologies if you use Opera. It is a good browser.).

And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown, welcome to Zero Centre. Its safe here.
