I’m so excited!
I’ve decided that I’ll use this blog for more technically oriented posts, though there may still be some games and anime related content here.
So with that, let’s get stuck into a fairly simple discussion about web applications. Last year Microsoft announced Windows 8 and its new developer platform, which is based on HTML5 and JavaScript, a decision which caused no small amount of criticism. But it is perhaps the most tacit recognition of the importance of web applications by a company which has traditionally not viewed the web with the recognition it deserved. Internet Explorer 10 is a significant step forward from the horrible days of Internet Explorer 6, infamous amongst web developers for its lack of web standards support.
But what prompted Microsoft to base their new developer platform on traditional web languages and markup formats? To answer that, we have to look at why web applications make sense for many purposes.
What have I become!?!?!
I FEEL YOUR SCORN!
The last two episodes have toned down the serious story elements, perhaps to compensate for the serious episode six. So the comedy levels have been increased dramatically, and a new girl joins the cast.
But firstly is the weekly highlight of Kore wa Zombie desu ka?, and that is the voices for Eucliwood. Episode seven gave us Yuki Matsuoka, voice of Osaka and Tsuruya, and thus bringing the number of Azumanga Daioh seiyuu voicing Yuu to two (Tomoko Kaneda voiced in episode 2).
Spring 2011 brings an unprecedented influx of anime series. I haven’t seen numbers like this in my (limited) time as an anime watcher. As far as I can tell, over 30 anime series will air in Spring, and this is EXCLUDING OVAs. Which is why I have termed it SPRINGPOCALYPSE.
SHAFT are doing two shows, and so is Production I.G. With the return of Gintama, Sunrise will also be doing two shows. In fact, Manglobe, Toei Animation, A-1 Pictures and MADHOUSE are all doing two shows. KyoAni returns after a well deserved break after the end of K-ON! Truly, this is SPRINGPOCALYPSE.
To help you decide what to watch, I’ve separated the shows into the following categories: unique and notable, slice of life and comedy, romance, action and mecha, and one last special category. Not every show is listed here, as I’ve skipped some I don’t think my normal readers will watch. At the end I’ll also be listing what I will probably be watching.

Note: abbreviations for show names are listed in brackets after the title if available.
Seeing as it is Valentine’s Day, I thought I might as well play a game I’ve heard a lot about and have wanted to try for quite a while. Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel (in plainer terms, a visual novel with a focus on romance) set in a private school for disabled children. The full game is going to be an eroge, but from what I have played they will either be tastefully done or skippable. You play Hisao Nakai, a boy who is diagnosed with serious arrhythmia, meaning that serious stress or exercise can cause cardiac arrest.
But apart from the premise, there is something else unique about Katawa Shoujo.
I was not expecting this. That being said, my expectations were based on some false rumours that it would be based on Mikiya’s and Shiki’s child.
I was also not expecting it to raise more questions than it answers.
This epilogue is a conversation mainly about psychology between Mikiya Kokutou and ‘Shiki Ryougi’, set on an empty snow-covered road in the middle of a winter night. The visuals are both wonderful, and also inconsequential for the most part. The focus is almost solely on the conversation.
Oh Infinite Stratos. You are such a rewarding guilty pleasure. Which is good, because Madoka Magica is dripping with despair and dread.
This episode was all about the harem. Which makes sense because with the transfer of another ‘male’ student to the school all the girls are going crazy. Hormone overdrive.
